Kelly and Brenda's story.
Kelly and Brenda have worked together for 15 years in their previous salon and now are opening a small studio together. They have learned a lot together and have decided to bring their combined styles together to be the dream team needed in the industry they love. Many years of honing their cutting skills. Learning the tips and tricks of the most up to date styles for men and children. Learning the wants and needs of what parents want for their children. We will be offering an Unending amount of patience and understanding for children and their needs during a haircut experience. We understand the need to move with them and that children have fears that we have learned to work with. We have brought together the My tyke and I experience because nothing is more fun than the tradition of taking your child for that "my daddy and me" haircut.

Classic buzz cut: $22

Brenda Hartfield
Co - OwnerBrenda Hartfield is a licensed cosmetologist of 30+ years, the last 18 years of her career she managed a local Chicagoland family salon. There she had experience styling hair for all ages on both men and woman. Regardless of what salon she was working for; many of Brenda’s clients followed her throughout her career till this day. Brenda got her license in cosmetology with the goal of paying her way through college. It was in college where she met her husband Jeff and his two children. Jeff & Brenda got married in October of 1990, together they had four children. Through their combined six children, they now have nine grandchildren and counting! Brenda loves her family and devotes most of her off days spending time with them. She understands that family time is important, which is a big factor to her wanting to create the My Tyke and I experience for fathers and sons.
Kelly Schlick
Co - OwnerKelly Schlick has worked in a family centered salon since 2007, specializing mostly in men & boys haircuts. Kelly has kept up with the most popular trends by attending trainings and conferences throughout the years. Kelly grew up on a horse ranch and worked with children as she taught riding lessons, teaching her lots of patience. She is the youngest of 4 siblings, her brothers who were firefighters in their local towns & her sister who works with an amusement park for kids. Kelly has truly found her passion in working with children, but having a son of her own she has noticed that boys are growing up and want more of that grown up barber experience. This is something she hopes to bring to the community in opening up My Tyke and I.
